#DINK No More

It was fun while it lasted

We always knew it was going to be a challenge for us to have kids but some of the hurdles we went through in retrospect seemed kinda ridiculous as we list them off.

So to keep it short and sweet – here are the big 5:

  1. Zika (Remember when that was health concern of the day)
  2. So many tests just to eliminate causes
  3. Expired immunizations
  4. COVID-19
  5. Travel schedules

But push through we did and along the way – set some milestones for how much further we wanted to take this journey.

The first deadline was April 2022.

Jason’s 40th birthday.

By that point in time, we figured that it would be best to either continue to be the best Uncle and Aunt we can be or look towards fostering and possible adoption.

We also had a goal of becoming first time homebuyers in 2022. Our lease was ending, we hated our parking situation, and Jason really needed a dedicated office space. Plus we wanted one extra room – just in case.

So while we were going through our fertility journey, we also started looking for homes in the area.

We found a place in an area that we love and put in the offer – a whole other adventure in itself.

That was March 9th and as part of the agreement we had to close before April 1.

March 17th the blood test results came back positive.

It typical McGrade fashion – we got it all done right before the deadline.

So much for that extra room.
